Renting the Kitchen

Our commercial kitchen enables us to produce our own value-added products, operate as a small-scale fruit and vegetable processing facility, and a rental kitchen.

Sambucus

Our commercial kitchen, inspected by Illinois Department of Public Health for wholesale, enables us to produce our own value-added products, but also allows Berries and Flour to operate as a small-scale fruit and vegetable processing facility and a kitchen rental for other micro food operations. These activities contribute much-needed components of a strong local food system in Central Illinois!

Each renter will establish terms with Preserve Farmstead and Berries and Flour depending on their needs.

All renters must have their Certified Food Protection Manager’s license.

Included in rental:

Full use of harvesting, processing, and preparing equipment

There is currently no oil fryer nor a grill.

Use of small wares

Options to purchase packaging

Consumables and cleaning supplies

Dry storage space

Refrigerator space

Minimal freezer space (until we get a walk-in!)

Generally, the kitchen is not available for a short-term rental except for processing. For example, if you want to make your own batch of applesauce, we can talk!

This kitchen is not permitted by CUPHD, though we did use their standards to build it. We cannot rent to caterers, food trucks, meat operations, or fresh meal preparers.
